The moon brimmed with joy among the stars,
As I stood there adorned with beautiful scars.
Crushing his own dream to fulfil mine,
Going against the world to make me shine.
From toiling hard to provide me with education,
To feeling proud on the day of my graduation
My father was always there for me.
In the blink of an eye, I went from daddy’s princess,
To a damsel in distress.
When the glass shoe did not fit me at midnight
And I was mercilessly abandoned by my knight,
I witnessed my whole life falling apart.
When I returned home with a broken heart,
My father was always there for me.
When my hopes were strangled to death,
He became my only strength.
He struggled to pull me out of the mess
As I was being tormented by darkness,
My father was always there for me.
He taught me how to rise back and love again
By dancing in ecstasy under the rain,
For him, I am ready to go an extra mile
As he is the reason behind my smile.
