It starts with a thought,
A message from Orisa Ayan
Truly understood by only those with discerning ears,
A cacophony of ideas and sounds,
Flowing from the mind’s ear,
Through the masterful hands of the Ayan
Beating and telling tales of stories past,
To the feet of experience
Swaying in tandem with the beats,
To the crowd gathered
Witnessing the display of heritage,
To the little kids running around
With no understanding but excited nonetheless,
To the Maidens colorfully clad
On display to prospective suitors,
To the heightened excitement
As the Ayan ushers in the Egungun
To make its annual appearance
And it ends with a Thought.
