Every house is on fire
In ways so different
Some, foundation, others, roof
Trapped in the smoke of tragedy
But to daddy, life is never worthless
Though his labouring youth crumbles in ash
For others, it’s sickness
Deeply rooted in the heart of serenity
Watering down the wealth of hope
To the despair of failing recovery
Tearing down the portrait of health
That we never knew we had
Death has snatched our hope
Leaving our hearts hopeless
Guns driving people from their homes
Kids have to close their eyes tightly
Ingest sand and grass
To avoid starvation from squeezing their lives
In the smaller society
Envy and jealousy creeps in the hearts of friends and families
Others dying of thirst, floods sweeping their lives away
Shattering peace is all that is seen around
I cry for what has become of the human race
That the colour of skin separates people.
