In Creative Corner, poetry

She was laid to rest
right before the new year.
For us, it was a
Restless December
“Chosen”, the bishop said;
To go and dine with her maker.
A Christmas to remember!

Months earlier,
she told us to pray;
Cancer ward turned church,
Hospital bed turned altar,
We knelt and asked for nothing less than healing.

She prayed for healing too –
not hers but ours.
Every hospital visit, including the last,
Was concluded with a hug and a “see you later”.
Isn’t that enough cause for belief?

John 3:16
Now we rest in the promise that
there’s no such thing as “goodbye”.
This must be the healing she prayed for;
Mourning to dancing and
Grief to gratitude.
