Under the foot of uncertainty
faced with eyes of blurred reality
accusing me of the things buried
in the hallow field of the Garden of Eden —
a place I come from
where terror as a music, is
sung like a lullaby, steeping us
in illusive mentality — our present instance
alas!
guns: bullets flying through
my weary eyes as I watch that little
boy contorted with fury by weapon
of war, that has gotten us trapped herein
society digs a grave over our reality
as we trust and obey its will to render
us non-adherent of our Creed to live
in this war-torn zone of dead bodies
…and hunger-swollen bellies!
when we shout for justice and march
in protest, dogs in uniform unleash
toward us to subdue our collective will
as a People united in the face of defeat
up North: the explosive loss of lives
and constant shattering of valid dreams;
down South: the ringing cry of secessionists
blaring through the Speakers — it’s a war!
